Aloha! Welcome to my new blog. My name is George Davis and I am the founder and director of Hawaii Bodyworkers Retreat, an NCBTMB certified Continuing Education experience. Like the title says, we are definitely not a typical continuing education program. I will use this blog to show you what makes Hawaii Bodyworkers Retreat so unique. Our intention is to create a real professional and personal experience…one that will help you grow not only as a therapist but as a person – it really is a mind, body, soul experience.

So a bit about us. Hawaii Bodyworkers Retreat utilizes the Windward Retreat Center, a 3-acre facility nestled into the foothills of the Koolau Mountains, on the windward side of the Hawaiian Isand of O’ahu. I developed  the program to be the kind of event I would like to experience himself.

The 30-hour NCBTMB certified program focuses on Integrated Modalities Technique (IMT), a culmination of Bodyworking experience, Energy work, and Business skills that I have acquired over the past 35 years. While the primary focus is on manual methods of managing myofascial pain, the secondary focus is on the business and marketing aspects of creating and maintaining a successful practice.

I know IMT is effective because of the results my clients see – 85% of them come regularly which keeps my schedule booked out about six weeks in advance. The reason they keep coming back is because they have learned first hand that the people who are the most comfortable in the bodies are the people who are the most consistent in having their bodies worked on.

“I see George religiously every 2 weeks and only wish I had the ability to go more often,” reports one client. “After the first session, I noticed immediate improvements with my issues, which included sciatica, shoulder pain and tightness, and overall muscle fatigue from triathlon training.”

The backbone of the program is IMT, a blend of modalities that I developed as my own personal style. It is heavy on APK, western modalities such as trigger point and myofascial work, and incorporates aspects of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

One of the unique aspects of IMT is the use of energy to enhance the work. Hawaii Bodyworkers Retreat utilizes a collection of primarily Hawaiian practices called Huna. The program gives participants an opportunity to experience an energetic aspect of practices that have been used for hundreds of years.

Hawaii Bodyworkers Retreat is a local-style experience that has been intentionally crafted to create an environment that will have an indelible effect on what you learn. From the incredible meals prepared by our own gourmet chef (who, incidentally, is able to accommodate a wide range of dietary needs), to the amazing adventure activities like horseback riding or zip lining in majestic Ka’a’awa Valley, to the captivating campfires at night. It’s an experience that you’ll remember every time you find a new way in incorporate the things you’ve learned into your own Integrated technique.

One recent participant said, “Thanks to George and his extensive knowledge of anatomy, the energy meridians, and business promotion I am now a successful business owner and have more confidence then ever before!” (All comments are posted on Yelp at Hawaii Bodyworkers Retreat.)
